Midwest Pediatric Cardiology Society Training Away Rotation Scholarship
The Midwest Pediatric Cardiology Society (MWPCS) will fund a maximum of 2 scholarships annually to support travel of a visiting fellow to an institution within the MWPCS. These awards are open to any fellow from an organization of the MWPCS. The scholarship represents a unique opportunity for garnering fresh ideas and collaborative work across the Midwest.
APPLICATION:
Each award will be in an amount of $2,000.
Submission deadlines: August 15 and January 15
Applicants will be informed of the decision within 1 month of the application deadline.
Applicants should forward the following material to admin@mwpcsociety.org: 1) CV 2) letter of interest from applicant (what and why you are doing the rotation) 3) letter of support from applicant’s fellowship director and 4) letter of support from host institution.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this award is to support travel for away rotations to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and techniques regarding the care of congenital heart disease. All fellows from organizations within the MWPCS are eligible to apply for a Scholarship. It is anticipated that each Scholarship will be for up to one month travel for an away rotation at an institution within the MWPCS, however no absolute time is stipulated. The funding may be used for travel, accommodation, and/or subsistence for the recipient. The funding may not be used to cover other costs, such as accompanying family members or salary, nor to cover any associated costs borne by the recipient’s home institution, such as for the back-filling of clinical duties or for indirect costs/institutional overhead.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- The applicant must be a fellow at an organization within the MWPCS.
- The host institution must be affiliated with the MWPCS.
FUNDING STIPULATIONS/AWARD POLICIES:
The funded visit must begin within 12 months of notification that the recipient has been selected to receive the award.
Award funding will be provided no more than 30 days prior to the initial date of travel.
The duration of the visit for which funds will be used may not be less than two weeks.
Funding will be made directly to scholarship recipient.
No individual may receive more than one award per year.
Applicant and host institution will coordinate and comply with individual intuitional requirements for visiting fellows.
Following the rotation, the awardee will submit a brief letter summarizing the experience to the MWPCS President.
